You Might Be Owed Money From Your Employer

Over the last five years it has been our experience that many employers violate the Labor Code, which requires that employees be paid overtime, paid for missed meal and break time, paid travel time, and the list goes on. When an employer violates the Labor Code the law entitles the employee to compensation, penalties and/or attorney fees.

You may be owed compensation even in cases where your employer characterized you as "salaried" or exempt. In fact, errors are so prevalent that often when a client calls us about one area of law, we find that they have a better argument for wage and hour violations. The specific law in this area is complex, but most people do not know that their employer is violating the law in this area or how to address their concerns if they do learn a violation exists. We aim to change that.

In short, an employee can go back three years to claim unpaid wages regardless of whether it is a current or former employer. Just as a severance package is meant to bridge the loss of an employee's income, identifying a wage and hour violation may provide a bridge to what often seems an uncertain future.
